When Shopify Customers Email From a Different Address: Safe Order Lookup & PII Verification
Find the right order by #number or name when sender emails don't match checkout, without leaking customer PII.
Why Sender Emails Often Don't Match Checkout
Customers frequently place an order using Apple Hide-My-Email, a PayPal address, or a personal inbox, and later follow up from a work email asking 'Where is order #1125?' or 'Can you change the shipping address on #1125?'. Basic inbox plugins fail to find the customer because they only query by the sender's email header.
Automatic Order-Number Fallback With PII Masking
When the sender's email address returns no Shopify customer match, Zactar extracts any referenced order number (such as `#1125`) from the subject or body and fetches the order with a `crossEmailMatch` privacy flag. To prevent social-engineering leaks, the checkout email is masked in the sidebar (`d***@example.com`) and 1-click mutations are locked.
Built-In Billing & Shipping Zip Code Verification
When `crossEmailMatch` is active, Zactar's order-checked reply automatically asks the sender to confirm the checkout email address or shipping postal code before disclosing street addresses or executing cancellations—keeping your store compliant with strict data protection standards.
